So here’s the full story. Saturday night when leaving the Lizard Lounge Courtney, Kevin and I witnessed a car scrape the back of Courtney’s vehicle while trying to parallel park. In the video below you can see us walking out as he makes his first attempt to parallel park. While we were walking past the car we saw and heard it happen. Courtney ran up to the car to say, “Hey you just scraped my car.” The guy responded with, “No I didn’t bitch.” Of course when I heard this I stuck my head in the car to confront him. In the surveillance video below you can see it was only 4 seconds after I had reached the car that he begins to drive off. **Note, the video time is off by one hour, the incident happened at 3:14am Sunday morning**
I probably should have just let him go, but for some reason I grabbed his shirt. The first 200 feet to the corner happened so quickly that I didn’t have a chance to think through what was going on. Plus, I was angry and my adrenaline was pumping. When he slowed to make the turn I thought he was going to stop, but instead he accelerated. I’m not exactly sure how fast he was going but when he reached the curve on Florence street the centrifugal force had my body perpendicular to the car and parallel to the ground. It wasn’t until the car reached the Hawkins intersection that I could let go. He hadn’t stopped, but because there were other cars there he had to slow down to dodge them.
I think he was rounding the corner to go southeast on Hawkins when I let go, but it’s hard to say. Once I hit the pavement it was all kind of a blur. I tried to make out his license plate, but I was sliding in the opposite direction and the car was swerving pretty hard to miss another vehicle. Also, I was suddenly surrounded by people trying to figure out, what had just happened and if I was alright. Yes, I’m OK. I’m pretty sore, bruised and skinned up. My pants have a hole in the knee and my shoes have seen better days that’s for sure.
If you have any information about what happened, got a plate number, know the make and model of the vehicle, or was one of the people in the car (yes I saw all of you in there) contact myself or the Dallas police. Whether or not you agree with how I handled the situation, the bottom line is that driver tried to kill me. Also if you have any experience with enhancing video, I have the 1.8 gig uncompressed surveillance video of the incident. I’m not exactly sure how much it can be cleaned up, but any help would be appreciated.

I have no clue how much it can be cleaned up, but I’d be willing to take a look if you send me the link to download the video. Seriously, when that guy took that first hard right, you could have went under the rear wheel if you fell off.

God damn, some people.. I swear to god. I’m sure a little spike in insurance would have been a lot easier to deal with than the plethora of serious charges he will be convicted for after he is caught. I also hope whoever finds this asshole gives him a clean punch to the nose.

You should check with some of the other businesses around the area to see if they have any video of the car coming or going. If you can get the plate I can look up who it belongs to for you for free.

You are not going to like what I have to say… Although the guy was a Dick (maybe that’s his name) for shunning his responsibility, you esclated the confontation. The privacy of a car is equalivant to the privacy of you house. When you “stuck you he in his car,” he may now has an equivalent legal defense to protect himself up to and including the use of deadly force. You have also given him a reason to leave the scene and the “dragging” could be seen as an appropriate response. Consider this when you find the guy and decide to press charges.

Oy vey. Judging from the title I was hoping maybe you meant someone dragged something behind them via flesh hooks for 900 feet. Unfortunately I don’t have any information to help… I think I was out of there by 2:45 or so. I’m really glad you had on the “protective gear” though; I guess some fetish gear has practical advantages. :-/
